Glendale Gardens
Glendale Gardens and Woodland, formerly known as the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific, are a working garden for gardeners and garden lovers just a 5 minute drive from Gazebo Bed and Breakfast in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. They are also close to the Butchart Gardens though very different in nature.

The Butchart Gardens are 55 acres of display gardens; a delight to the eye. A friend of ours describes them as "The Disney approach to gardening" - a trifle cynical perhaps! Whereas Glendale Gardens has six acres of demonstration gardens on a 103 acre site displaying over 10,000 plant varieties (most with name tags) in twenty eight thematically organised areas. These include a heather garden, rhododendron and hosta garden, herb garden, dahlia trial bed, lily garden, vegetable gardens, winter garden and drought tolerant garden. There's even a children's garden and a compost demonstration area. Highlights for many visitors are the Zen Garden and the extensive Japanese Takata Garden.
The rest of the property comprises a conservation park covering 93 acres including Coastal Douglas firs and wetlands with over 35 varieties of birds. There are cycling and walking nature trails.
Here at the Pacific Horticulture College a one-year landscape horticultural course is offered and they organise community gardener workshops and Master Gardener courses teaching sustainable gardening practices. Other facilities include a library, gift shop and summer tea room. Wedding celebrations are hosted.
